6:30 AM – 8:00 AM
Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel – Pacific Grand Ballroom D
Program Description
A significant body of research supports the unique health benefits of moderate fat diets that include foods with “good” unsaturated fats. Yet, consumers are still confused about the role and sources of good fats in the diet, in part due to how the media reports new research findings. This session will review past and current factors contributing to consumers’ dietary fat confusions, explore recent findings around the benefits of unsaturated fats to human health, look at current dietary recommendations and highlight the important role nutrition researchers have in helping consumers better understand dietary fat research findings.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Discuss the role of unsaturated fatty acids in reducing risk factors for chronic diseases and improving health and wellness.
- Translate new research findings into practical advice for consumers.
- Identify when and how to respond to inaccurate food and nutrition media stories.
